Spices and chili are mixed up lots, (chilies not used a lot in our cuisine) spices and herbs have been used for flavour, colour and aroma in the Lebanese cuisine more than 3500 years ago. A spice is a seed, root or other plant substance primarily spices are the leaves, flowers or stems of the plants used for flavoring or a garnish, many spices have antimicrobial properties. bharat literally meaning ‘spices in Lebanon are a common ingredient in dishes, like most Middle eastern spice blends. Every region or chef has their preference as to what they like to add, baharat can sometimes contain, pepper, cumin, coriander, nutmeg, cloves cinnamon, ginger, fenugreek, paprika, garlic, mint, parsley, caraway, thyme etc. you could play around if you find the addition of something you like
